Gite du "PUY MARY -LIAUMIER"
Ideally located holiday home cootage in the heart of the volcano Park in Auvergne,in the high valley of the Jordanne, in the midst of an exceptional natural site , 850m high.Near the ski resorts of Col du Legal and Mandailhes–Puy Mary( cross-country skiing), a paradise for snow-shoes hikers in winter, and in summer for hikers and nature lovers ( flora and wild life still preserved, wonderful landscapes), numerous signs for walking and hiking tours, GR 400.
Trout fishing in the river Jordanne, tennis 5 km . A mythical staging point in Le Tour de France, Puy Mary is the necessary climb for any self respecting bicycle touring lover.( see the highly successful bicycle touring week in 2003 in Aurillac).
Aurillac 17 km, food shops 5 km( itinerant food sale during the week).Very quiet, in the south. Ideally located.
Driving from Clermont, drive out the motorway in Massiac, direction Aurillac,after the tunnel of Lioran, take the small mountain road on the right,after the sign ST Jacques des Blats,just before the hotel « le châlet fleuri »,( in winter, check the Col du Pertus is open), at the church in Mandailhes, turn left, then, 5 km farther, turn left just before a car garage, it’s le Laumier Bas : the cottage is just close the leather shop.
Coming from Aurillac, direction Puy Mary,2,5 km after ST Cirgues de Jordanne turn right just after the car garage,follow the sign to the leather shop, it’s the cottage next to it.
Good restaurants : local cooking in the valley numerous restaurants and inns.
Tennis in Mandailhes, 5 km ;
But, overall, you’ll enjoy the breath taking nature !In winter, as well as in summer, it’s still preserved and rustic…., everlasting and never the same .
