Sylvie and Laurent welcome you to their home in a renovated 18th century farmstead in the hamlet of Florac in Tarascon. Here in heart of the high Ariège river valley, which is part of the newly designated Parc Naturel des Pyrénées Ariégeoises, you can enjoy a restful stay filled with leisure activities.

The bed and breakfast is open all year round for individuals, families and groups.
We welcome you to join us at table where you'll savour seasonal, regional dishes prepared by Laurent using fresh, organic and/or local produce.
Right around Les Châtaigniers de Florac you can take advantage of the many walking trails of all levels, the ski stations (Ax Bonascre for alpine skiing and the plateau de Beille for cross-country), enjoy snowshoeing, fishing, mushroom hunting, visit Cathar castles and the medieval towns of Foix and Mirepoix. Andorra is 60 km away, Toulouse and Carcassonne each 100 km.
Two enormous chestnut trees by the terrace provide plenty of shade for naps and simply relaxing if you prefer to take advantage of the peace and quiet, which is broken only by the trickle of the fountain in the fish pond.
Our three rooms are equipped with a WC, private bathroom and a sitting area with a television. You can use our living/dining room to consult brochures on the region and plan your sightseeing and activities.
Free WiFi is possible in all the bedrooms as well as in our living room, where we put at your disposal a computer with internet access.
The heated swimming pool is available from the month of April to October.
We practice "eco tourism" where possible by sorting rubbish for recycling and changing towels only upon request (in order to save energy and put less washing powder into the environment). All the rooms are fitted with energy-saving light bulbs and we heat the living/dining room with a wood pellet burning stove. The swimming pool is covered and heated with a solar heat pump.

Les Châtaigniers de Florac is listed in "Les Routtes Touristiques Ariège-Pyrénées Berguidà" of the ADT Ariège. Books, novels, games and DVDs on the Cathars and catharism are at your disposal as well as suggestions for walks and information on Cathar sites in Ariège.
